My husband and I discuss the price of gas daily.. We discuss the way our government is doing nothing to help us, that they don't have a clue what it's like to be an average American and how frustrating it is to hear newscaster tell us over and over again that it's all our fault that the gas prices are so high because we refuse to stop using so much fuel... I don't know about you, but I know we do NOT keep using too much fuel.. We can't afford to.. We now weigh the cost of gas for every single trip we need to make anywhere.. We rarely go out of town anymore even though we live in a very rural area that doesn't offer a whole lot of anything. We make a grocery list a mile long before heading for the nearest Walmart (20 miles away) to purchase our groceries because the grocery store in town knows it has a monopoly right now and is charging twice what we pay for most items at Walmart.. I'm not trying to give Walmart any praise here.. Walmart has a monopoly of it's own and personally, I'm sick to death of all the cheap Chinese made crap that comes out of it.. But the truth is, when the cost of living is so high, we are forced to buy our groceries where we can get them the cheapest..
But, back to gas prices.. Is anyone else out there sick of being told it's our fault the prices are so high? Do you think the wealthy are cutting back on their fuel consumption? Do you think they think twice about taking a vacation because of the price of fuel? Do you think the price of gas in their expensive, fuel guzzling vehicles effect their everyday way of live? Do you think they have to budget their grocery bill down to the smallest penny because they have to pay so much more for gasoline just to get to work?
This isn't the average American's fault, and yet, who is suffering the most from all this? As usual, it's the little guy...
How much does it cost you just to drive to work now? How much less are you actually making a week when you subtract the cost of the gas to get there? Is no one in Washington aware of what it's like to be an Average American? Does no one there realize what is happening to us? Does no one care?
How can it be that the gas company's are making record profits if gas really costs so much more per barrel? Why isn't the government doing anything about this? Why are the gas company's allowed to make so much profit?
My husband and I try to figure out a way to make things better, try to think of something we, the average American, can do to stop all this madness.. We are CLUELESS to what we can do.. We feel powerless, frustrated and just downright mad....
My husband has sadly come to the conclusion that American's just don't have it in them to fight back anymore... I don't believe that's true.. I think we all have it in us to fight back...We just don't know how to do it!
That's why I started this blog.. I'd love to hear from you, the average Amercian, as to what you think we can do about all this, if anything.. Does anyone out there have any ideas? We've all seen the emails that say, don't buy gas on this day..... But does that work?
If you have any idea's, please post them.. Remember though, this is a family friendly site and even though most of us are frustrated beyond belief, please don't use profanity in your posting (it'll be deleted)... Please don't go off in a rage (even though I feel your pain)... I'd just really, really like to know not only how this is affecting your world, but also if you have any good, sound, workable ideas of what we can do to fight back.. and no.. I'm not talking about starting a war here! I'm asking what we can do, together, to get the message out loud and clear to not only our government, but to the gas company's, that we have had enough and we will not continue to take this abuse! Someone, somewhere, must have a good idea!! Please share it with all of us.
